Last night, Patricia Kopatchinskaja became Pierrot Lunaire to celebrate the centenary of this landmark modernist work.
On the very day that marked 100 years since its premiere in Spain, BCN Clàssics and the Palau de la Música Catalana paid tribute to Arnold Schönberg, a composer who loved and contributed greatly to the city of Barcelona.

Based on 21 poems by Albert Giraud, whose lyrics the audience could follow with a replica of the original 1925 program in hand, Patricia Kopatchinskaja and five other musicians brought to life this wild and unexpected work by a genius ahead of his time.

With an introductory presentation by composer Joan Magrané, an expert on Schönberg, the Chamber Symphony No. 1 by the same composer completed the program.
