Yesterday, cellist Guillem Gràcia gave a recital at the Petit Palau as part of the KM0 cycle, presenting a program for solo cello that combined a world premiere, contemporary music, and classical repertoire.
The concert program included Sept papillons by Kaija Saariaho, a delicate and atmospheric work, and part of the 11 Capricci per violoncello solo by Joseph Dall'Abaco, full of virtuosity and captivating rhythms. As the highlight, Gràcia performed 7 Postludes by Joan Magrané, premiered for the occasion with the composer present, who explained to the audience the meaning and creative process behind the work.

The three pieces were interleaved throughout the recital, creating a coherent sonic journey that explored contrasts, colors, and textures of the cello, highlighting the instrument’s expressive range in Gràcia’s hands.
He also treated the audience to a Basque lullaby: ‘Aurtxoa seaskan’.
The concert was introduced by Pep Gorgori, who contextualized the works and enriched the audience’s experience.
This recital marked the third concert of the KM0 cycle, which continues to champion contemporary creation and give visibility to top-level composers and performers.
